Yes we can!
As we begin the second half of the Easter term it is now time to get started with our next charity event at Shoreham College. As of today the Shoreham College Can Food Drive has officially begun.
The donations collected will be taken to the Brighton Food Bank. We looked into helping out a more local Shoreham food bank, but they were not looking for donations. I have contacted the Brighton Food Bank and they are very grateful that we have chosen them as our charity.
Pupils are encouraged to collect as many cans as possible. They can ask neighbours that they know and certainly ask family members for donations as well. I have suggested that once they have successfully raided the cupboards at home that perhaps they could do some chores around the house to earn a bit of pocket money to buy some food items.
Each form group will compete against each other in their respected year group, to see which form can collect the most donations. We are hoping that each form can bring in 75 – 100 items.
The Brighton Food Bank is looking for the following items:
Tinned Food - Meat, Vegetables, Fish, Tomatoes, Beans, Fruit and Desserts
Packets of Food - Cereals, Pasta, Rice, Noodles, Sugar, Biscuits, Tea, Coffee and Hot Chocolate
Jars and Bottles - Pasta and Curry sauces, Jam, Honey, Marmite, Peanut Butter, Fruit Juices and Squash
Toiletries - Shampoo, Shower Gel, Toothpaste, Tooth Brushes, Deodorant, Toilet Rolls and Razors
(Non-perishable foods)
The last day for collection will be Friday 11th March, when donations will be counted for in each form in each year group. Once we have our final numbers the students who collected the most will be selected to go in the minibus and deliver the items to the Brighton Food Bank.
We would like to thank you in advance for your support.
